There is a potentially ugly situation brewing in Prague, the Czech Republic. A Canadian company, O'Hsin Technology, HQ in Toronto, 219 Duffrein street, Suite 18, Duffrein Liberty Center http://www.ohsintechnology.com/ , made an office in Prague at 9 Krakovska on the 5th of January, masquerading as O'Hsin Technology Works s.r.o.; to have about 30 reps sell ad space coinciding with the World Cup of Football. It claims to have exclusive rights to FIFA's WC2006 for large-scale video screens located in Sweden, Portugal, Holland and France. This company suddenly and over the weekend of April 1st.leaving about 30+ employees without pay, commissions or an explanation...

All employee contracts, commission documentation, databases, were either shredded or removed by the Canadian staff. Of course all the police, including the state police and the commercial/financial feds, had been immediately informed and sealed the offices off (number of file ORI-2335-1/MO3-TC-2006 ), but their local investigation is very slow, while the Canadian managers, most of them now still continue selling this "World Cup 06" project or another cheat all around the world from Toronto´s office.

They are also planning a similar scam for the upcoming summer Olympic games to be held in China, with having another strategic location in Šang-chaj, Budapest, Cape Town and hiring another native staff...

http://otw.compacks.com/aboutus.html

Immigration police has been informed and let the workers know that NONE of the Canadian staff had adequate visas and work permits. This includes the following:

1.) CEO of Toronto: Jerzy A. Leptuch (citizen of Polland, living in Canada, under his name was registered Czech company),

Ronald C. Walker (official CEO who signed the contract with employees)

Andrea McKenzie, Emanuel Rumbos and his belgic wife and his venezuela mother, Jennifer Wessman, Robin Moriarty http://www.ida.ca/Files/BulletinsNotices/Bulletins/B2858_en.pdf about Robin Moriarty

2.) managers

Patricia Dyke (citizen of UK, living in Canada), Ron Watson (citizen of UK, planning to move from UK to Spain), Katherine Benoit, Izak Korc , Darwin Murray, John Best, Pauli Sciani, Berta Solomon , Patrick Mitchell, Jason St. Hill , Thomas Tucker Grant, Ashley Pratt.

( some of those names could be false, nobody checked their passports)

A formal complaint has been filled with the Canadian embassy here in Prague without any help. The Ministry of Work and Social Affairs is fully informed. FIFA has been notified repeatedly, no reaction. The Czech Federation of Labor Unions has offered the employees legal assistance with receiving some renumeration from Czech government (still waiting for official approval). O'Hsin Technology Works s.r.o. also forgot to pay the rent for the office, Czech Telecom, Ikea.

A comment from NYC

They also claim to do the NBC screens on Times Square during New Yeart's Eve and the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade, so my pals in NYC are alerting these organizations also, but I got a proverbial comment from a friend of mine.

I began working at this company in January 2006 and was promised 26k/year as well as 10% comission on all sales. The deals all start around 50k USD so I thought it was a great opportunity to make some extra cash for college. I searched all over the net to find anything negative about the company and couldn't, so I thought it was legit. It wasn't until I quit my job and started there that I found out it was a low down scam.

Most of the employees there have an alias. The owner (Ron Walker) is also "John Smith" and the project manager (Paul Mutart) is "Jack Crew". I'm sure Jerzy Leptuch has one as well, but I do not know it. They used these names when calling large US companies and tried to pressure them in to buying outdoor advertising.

The whole sales pitch is a lie. The jist of it is "We have one package left, it won't be here tomorrow, buy it now" when in reality there are plenty (this is if they even had the programming rights to these tv screens, they claimed they did but now I'm not so sure).

So the big day came when I closed a deal in March. I still have not been paid and it's now the middle of May. The commercials were supposed to run from May 10 - July 10, and were supposed to be paid to the company by now. Now they are telling us that the project has been cancelled and no one is getting their commission.

The company pays once a month and have been at LEAST 3 weeks late paying their employees for the last 3 months. I (and others) call there every day about our pay and the only answers we can get are "I don't know when you'll get paid", "You quit, what do you expect" or "Maybe next week".

They also tried to hire someone to go to a competing company and "spy" on them. They wanted him to find out their clients, banned list and employees, so the guy went to their website and made up a list of fake names and actually sold it to them for $500 CDN.

They have other locations as well all over the world, where the employees are there on tourist visas and when they expire, they leave for a day, get a new visa and come back.

All of you US business owners beware when looking for exposure. Don't ever do business with this company.

Another Comment> Hi Everybody::OHSIN Tech

Hello,

First things first, allow me to re-introduce maself..this is your boy
Fredrick.Word up ma People!!! I would be forgiven if i didnt believe in Ron
Walker or Ohsin Technology for that matter. These guys have taken us folks
for fools...There are alot of us who really worked hard in that firm only to
see everything going up in smoke,n a couple of times i ask maself why i
didnt know this was gonna happen in the first place. My only consolation we
were good natured people who were taken advantage of...all I need now is
redress...I need to get paid man,i am miffed that someone would think that
its ok to come all the way to prague, promise folks heaven n do a houdini
thinking that thats the end of a very good fairy-tale..

Its kind of comical that someone like Manny would incorporate his Pregnant
wife n mother in something like this..I would have never thought, even
hollywood might have a hard time believing that something like this would
take place in the real world..shows what depths a man can sink to to get
money n if u ask me,Manny is a morality free-zone.Your Pregant Wife?Come on
dude..but thats here nor there...I have a couple of questions and a few
verbal jabs to throw at his Con-ness Mr.Ron Whatever Walker,so the next
minute he calls somebody, please patch em thru to ma frequency.I am a
paranoid fella...n i will tell ya dudes why;

1.Why is it that now is when Ron cares to pick up a phone n call someone
supposedly to apologize? Why didnt he do it the moment he was en-route to
Canada.I mean a lil heads up would have saved us the embarrasment of showing
early on that fateful monday.Dont get me wrong,i like being on tv,but not
for the wrong reasons..n just to borrow from one of my favourite
movies,"Someone like me cannot afford to get embarrassed".

2.Lemmi put across a hypothesis here.Ron for all his high octate laughter n
Manny's make belive platitudes have somehow realised that they have
something bigger to loose and they are just trying to lessen the pain of
punishment.Kinda like 'Lets pay those cats n they will just let it go'.

Well,i dont know about u folks, but i want my money like i want my own
talk-show and the sooner i get it the better or sooner someone will google
"scam" and a mug-shot of a very surprised Ron will be featuring alongside a
butt-faced Manny and it wouldnt stop on those two high priests of Dupe.

Ladies n gentlemen, lets get this money or we will go down in history as a
bunch of duck-heads..whatever it takes, lets get this money..

Yours in Arms,

Freddy

Another False hope, or for real this time?

Hi Everybody.

First of all, I disagree with Ash that we should let it go. I know I am
not alone in saying that I personally am owed a lot of money from Ohsin
and its money that I really need. I am now in debt to friends and family
and have nothing, and thats the fault of Ohsin. So I am not going to let it go.

However, I agree with Dana that the most important thing is our money.
I think I am right in saying that thats the thing that everyone cares
about the most. Therefore I think we should concentrate more on sorting that out and afterwards if some of you want to continue your actions, go
ahead. As I said a few times before, I worry that the more action we
take, the less likely we will be to get our money. I would like to see
justice done to them, but I want to be sure I get whats owed to me.

Now, the reason for my email is that I recieved a phone call from Ron Walker last night. He explained his reasons for leaving again and asked me to pass on his apologies to everybody. I told him he should call everybody and apologise himself. He told me that the reason the agreement
with Peterka was cancelled was because they were demanding too much money
which Ron didnt think was worth paying. Whether thats true or not, I dont
know. He told me that we will be paid next week. I told him that same as
I dont really care about their reasons for leaving, nobody cares about
their problems with lawyers because all we want is our money. He said
that they are wiring money to our bank accounts on tuesday so we should
get it probably wednesday. I asked him if he was telling the truth or
more bullshit, and he said its true, he gave his personal guarantee
(whatever thats worth) and promised on his life. He said a lot of things
in that call but nothing really of any importance.

He said he is considering coming back to prove himself to us.

Thats pretty much all. He said he will call me again on tuesday when
they send the money. Maybe its true, maybe its not. The only thing we can
do is wait and see. I would be really happy to get my money because to me
that would be my dealings with Ohsin finished. I could finally move on
and forget it.

If I know something more I will let you all know.

Take care everybody.

Mark.

Salespeople taken for a ride

Police investigate World Cup scam that left many in the lurch

By Brandon Swanson
Staff Writer, The Prague Post
May 03, 2006

When O'Hsin Technology employees came to work April 3, all legal evidence was gone.

The Interior Ministry is investigating a scam that ended with the midnight flight of nearly a dozen Canadians who were selling World Cup advertising illegally from an office in Prague.

If caught, the managers of the Toronto-based O'Hsin Technology Limited — which operated here as O'Hsin Technology Works, s.r.o. — may face up to three years in jail for theft, tax evasion and withholding employee benefits. Czech Police spokesman Ladislav Bernášek said the ministry has reason to believe the company was operating illegally here.

"Right now, we are in the investigation phase — verifying the information," he said.

O'Hsin Technology hired more than 30 employees in late January to call companies around Europe and sell them World Cup advertising packages worth 35,000 euros each. But on the weekend of April 1, the company's managers stripped the office and fled the country and without paying employees, workers say.

The managers had told employees that the company had exclusive rights from FIFA, soccer's governing body, to sell ads that would run throughout the World Cup in June. The ads would appear on daily World Cup highlight shows that would air on giant LED screens in several major cities in Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands and elsewhere.

O'Hsin Technology "have no such rights to the event nor have ever had any such rights," said Niclas Ericson, FIFA's head of broadcast and media rights.

O'Hsin at a glance

Who: Prague managers of the Toronto-based O'Hsin Technology, who claimed they had the rights to sell World Cup advertising
What: Alleged theft, tax evasion and withholding employee benefits
When: Managers fled the country the weekend of April 1, allegedly with evidence that they hired employees and left them without full pay
Stakes: Up to three years in prison in the Czech Republic

O'Hsin employees don't know exactly how much money they made for the company in false advertising, but former employee Michal Rezanka said a bulletin board in the office showed company sales at 350,000 euros to Portugal alone.

The attention O'Hsin Technology has received in the Czech Republic is unfair, said Manny Rubos, one of the company's managers who fled Prague, via telephone from Toronto April 27. When asked to elaborate, he said all comment must come from company attorneys in Prague.

The attorneys for O'Hsin Technology, Martin Mládek and Ondřej Peterka, said that the company had not given them consent to speak to The Prague Post at press time.

When O'Hsin employees came into work on the morning of April 3, they found the managers gone and the office free of most of the evidence that the company had done business there.

Quite a suprise

"We came to work on Monday and the telephones were missing, the hard drives were missing from computers," Rezanka said.

The employees say they also found personal documents, such as O'Hsin employment contracts, missing from their desk drawers.

They now say the managers fled the country without paying them.

There were many things that should have rung alarm bells, said one employee who asked to be identified only by her first name, Dana.

"Here was this high-tech company that has all of these LED screens all over the world, but they pay their employees in cash?" she said.

Employment contracts show that O'Hsin Technology promised a gross monthly salary of 25,000 Kč plus 10 percent commission on any sale an employee made. O'Hsin employees say that they did not receive full pay during their tenure, and were not paid at all for their last month of work.

But only 19 of them have copies of their work contract, which will make it hard for the others to prove that O'Hsin employed them.

Some of the employees were non-EU citizens, and did not have work visas. It is unlikely that they will be able to receive any additional pay.

Petr Hanyk, an attorney representing the employees, said there is a question whether they signed their contracts with the Canadian company or its Czech counterpart.

"We are trying to go after both," he said.

O'Hsin employees asked the Canadian Embassy in Prague to pressure the company to pay them for the hours they worked, but embassy officials do not plan to do anything about the issue.

"We are informed about the matter, but as far as we are concerned it is in the hands in the Czech authorities," spokeswoman Lucie Čermaková said.

The Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions (ČMKOS) is helping some of the O'Hsin employees who could not get new jobs because they were still technically working for the company.

ČMKOS spokesman Vít Zvanovec said cases like this are all too common in the Czech Republic.

"It is because of our legal system," he said. "It doesn't uphold the rules, so when the employer breaks them no punishment follows."

But O'Hsin employees are less concerned about any criminal punishment the managers may face. They have vowed to get compensation for their work at any cost, and will be pressuring the Canadian company to follow through.

"I want O'Hsin Technology in Canada to pay me every single crown they owe me," Dana said. "If they don't, they will have trouble."
